StarTouch International has just released a new feature

can now place any voice file (up to 10 minutes long) on
your website in just seconds.

Here is how it works:

1. Call ESA, your own toll-free messaging system.
Press # to leave a message.
At the tone, leave your 'message'. When finished, just
hang up.

Your 'message' can be anything from a heart-felt welcome
greeting to an interactive product description; from a
glowing testimonial, to a custom-made sound clip of
your new album.

2. In your ESA administration center, save the 'message'
as a voice-on-demand file. With ESA, you can store
900 voice-on-demand files, each up to 10 minutes long.

To save your 'message' permanently is as easy as
assigning a 3-digit file ID number; then press save.

3. Now place a short HTML code onto your website. The
HTML code features the 3-digit file ID number of your
'message'.

That's it! Its as easy as 1-2-3!

Call and leave a message.
Save that message.
Place a link onto your website.

Who can use a live message on his/her website?

have your own 'story' on your site?

I came across the article from Nicholas Carr's post Should the Net forget?

This is an interesting consequence that seems to be getting pushed on SEO, rather then perhaps looking at it from the aspect of accountable reporting, no?

Nicholas states that:

With search engine optimization - or SEO, as it's commonly known - news organizations and other companies are actively manipulating the Web's memory. They're programming the Web to "remember" stuff that might otherwise have become obscure by becoming harder to find.

The result is that:

People are coming forward at the rate of roughly one a day to complain that they are being embarrassed, are worried about losing or not getting jobs, or may be losing customers because of the sudden prominence of old news articles that contain errors or were never followed up.

In Summary

So, in the past as the print info (newspaper issues) simply disappeared or, more recently, as they hid the content behind paywalls and poor SEO, newspapers didn't have to worry about the consequences of articles that contain errors or were never followed up, but now people may suffer from these mistakes and lack of integrity.

What do you think the answer should be? Nicholas Carr asks Should the Net forget? I'm not so sure, and I don't think that the answer is that simple.

There's a learning curve to moving print onto the web, and this case encompasses one facet of what needs to be conisdered, but it would be great if some form of integrity from those doing the reporting kept these kinds of things from happening.

2. Inconsistent Design
One problem I often see on websites is inconsistent design. This not only looks unprofessional, but it also makes a site difficult for visitors to use. I recently visited a site, and each page was so different from every other page that I thought I was being sent to different websites. I found it so disconcerting that I left the site after going to three pages and have no plans to go back. Do you think I would every buy a product or service from this kind of site? Not likely. You want to make you…

There are several very good reasons why you should consider building your own web site versus having someone do it for you. It's more cost efficient, you can make it much larger in content, you are more involved in how you want the pages to look, and I have actually enjoyed learning the dos and don'ts of website profiling. I have run into some definite don'ts as I thrashed my way through building the few that I have needed , but I envy the professionals that get paid to make websites. Although…
